  1. Fat is essential for life. We all need to have it to live.  (Most of us wish that fat never existed.)
  2. Fat is stored, excess energy to be used later if needed. (When was the last time you went without food for more than a day so we can use the stored fat? mostly never.)
  3. We cannot “spot reduce” fat in a particular area. You cannot do thigh exercises to lose thigh and hip fat or do crunches to lose abdominal fat.
  4. We only make new fat cells from birth through teenage years. Once growth and development is done we do not make new fat cells.  There are two exceptions: extreme obesity and pregnancy.  But before you jump up to celebrate, be aware that each fat cells can store a lot of fat.  They can blow up with fat like a balloon.
